Cowboys' Tony Romo may play again this season, depending on team success
Tony Romo's season may not be over. But that will likely be decided on if his team can win without him first. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones backtracked on some previous comments Thursday. Jones, who said Monday that Romo would play again when he's healthy with no attention paid to the Cowboys' record, told The Dallas Morning News that Romo's fate for the rest of 2010 directly depends on results. When asked if Romo would be allowed to play this season, Jones said: "I don't know. We have to see what the circumstances are at that time. We have to see how well we are playing. ... "We will be weighing that aspect of where he is in the healing process relative to any risk that you might take with him playing." Romo broke his collarbone during Monday night's loss to the Giants. He is expected to be out for eight weeks, which means he wouldn't play again until Christmas day, week 16, in Arizona.
Fantasy Analysis:
You should still not fear dropping Romo in re-draft leagues. If record is going to play a role, you can pretty much assume he's done. Without Romo, I think it'll be tough for the Cowboys to win more than six games. If that's the case, there is no way they'll be in any playoff hunt by the time Romo is fully healthy. Jon Kitna takes over now and as I'm sure you've read this week, he's not a bad pickup. That's especially true for those of you looking for a one-week fill-in. The Cowboys host the Jacksonville Jaguars in week eight.
