Saints' Darren Sharper activated
New Orleans Saints free safety Darren Sharper
has been activated from the physically unable to perform list and is eligible to play for today's home game against the Cleveland Browns. Sharper is returning from off-season microfracture knee surgery. The NFL Network's Jason La Canfora broke this news on Saturday. Sharper led the NFL last season with nine interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns. He practiced all this week with no setbacks and will likely start. He sent a text message to the local newspaper New Orleans Times-Picayune that read "Glad to be back. WHODAT!"
Fantasy Analysis:
Sharper is the emotional and veteran leader of a defense that last season forced a ton of turnovers and played their best with him in the lineup. New Orleans has struggled a bit on defense and having Sharper back in the locker room and on the field has to be a morale boost for everyone on the team. The Saints defense is currently ranked seventh in total defense, allowing 301.5 yards per game. They are ranked 8th in the NFL in points allowed per game (18). The Saints are a must-start defense as they face rookie quarterback Colt McCoy, who will be pressured all day by a highly aggressive Saints defense.
