Broncos' Eddie Royal will be a game-time decision
There a few fantasy football notables at wide receiver who are listed as questionable to play in week seven -- Hakeem Nicks, Steve Breaston, Dez Bryant among others. But maybe the most questionable of the lot to participate this weekend is Denver Broncos wideout Eddie Royal
.
The encouraging news is Royal practiced Friday. But it was described as a "light practice" and it was his first action of the week. He missed duty on Wednesday and Thursday to rest a strained groin that he suffered during Sunday's loss to the Jets. Royal is third on the Broncos in receptions and receiving yards (32 and 367, respectively). He is the team leader with 232 yards after the catch.
Fantasy Analysis:
Royal hasn't done much in the past two games, but he has a nice matchup against the Raiders, who struggle against secondary receivers. It's just totally unknown as to if he'll suit up. Since the Broncos and Raiders are a late start, I would avoid any risks and place Royal on my bench. His potential absence could mean more playing time for rookie Demaryius Thomas
, a subject that was stressed this week by head coach Josh McDaniels. It could also mean even more work for Brandon Lloyd
and Jabar Gaffney
. Given Lloyd's amazing season thus far and Gaffney's recent consistency, they should be started in 12-team leagues that allow at least three WRs.
