Dallas Clark's season ends as Colts place him on IR
Dallas Clark currently ranks in the top five among NFL tight ends in catches, yards and touchdowns. He leads all players at his position with 37 receptions. When the season ends 10 weeks from now, that's exactly where his reception total will stand. Clark's season is over as the Indianapolis Colts placed him on injured reserve Friday because of a wrist injury that will require surgery.
"It's unfortunate, but it's been confirmed that surgery is necessary to repair the injury to my wrist," Clark said in a press release.
"I have met with three great surgeons. ... All three have helped me and my family out tremendously during this process. I look forward to supporting my teammates the rest of the season and rehabilitating my wrist back to full strength for next season."
Jacob Tamme
, who hasn't caught a pass in six games this season, is expected to take Clark's place in Indy's starting lineup.
Fantasy Analysis:
Tough season for the top of the crop at tight end as Clark joins Jermichael Finley on IR. I'm sure Clark owners would disagree, but this is probably worse for the Colts than it is for fantasy purposes. Sure, Clark was putting up good numbers. Even a bit of a down year, he was still around the top five at tight end in fantasy scoring. But I'm sure you've noticed that tight end is very deep this year and you should be able to find yourself a decent replacement. You'll have to do some mixing and matching, but Tony Moeaki, Ben Watson, Todd Heap, Jermaine Gresham and others may be available in your league and can help you out. They won't be Clark, but they will be serviceable.
