Darren McFadden improving; not so much for Raiders' injured QBs
Kyle Boller remains the favorite to start at quarterback for the Oakland Raiders at Denver on Sunday. Who will be the starter at running back is more uncertain. Darren McFadden
went though his second straight day of limited practice Thursday. Head coach Tom Cable sounded somewhat upbeat when discussing Darren's status later in the day.
"I think we're close," Cable said about McFadden. "He feels like he can cut it loose yesterday and today so I hope so."
Jason Campbell practice a little on Thursday, but Boller took at least half of the first-team reps. Cable said that if his team had to play today, Campbell wouldn't be available because of his knee injury.
"[Campbell] could go back, call plays and throw it but to be able to run and do the things he's got to be able to do, it'd be pretty iffy," Cable said.
Bruce Gradkowski
is reportedly feeling better, but he will miss the game as his injured shoulder continues to heal.
Fantasy Analysis:
We'll update this situation after Friday's practice, but you probably don't want anything to do with any Raiders receiver other than Zach Miller. Even if Boller starts, I still have faith that he can find Miller consistently; most backup QBs love checking down to their tight ends.
The McFadden-Bush scenario is really difficult to assess. This has disappointment attached to it, no matter what. McFadden appears to be healthy enough to play right now, given that he doesn't experience a setback in the next 60 or so hours. But how much will he play? It could be minimal and Michael Bush
could stay in a majority role for another week. Or McFadden could get 15-20 touches. My guess is we won't know until after Sunday's game. That really doesn't help you. The matchup is pretty good, but since I think McFadden will be active, I would do whatever possible to stay clear of this potential mess.
