Matt Moore reinserted as Panthers' starting quarterback

In a move that's more newsworthy in "real" football than fantasy, the 0-5 Carolina Panthers are going back to Matt Moore @mattmoore_8 behind center. Head coach John Fox made the announcement Monday as his team readies to play the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday. "We have struggled on offense since the beginning of the season and sometimes it helps to step back and watch and Matt has had a chance to do that," Fox said in a statement released through the team. Moore will step back in and send Jimmy Clausen @JimmyClausen to the bench. And to say the Panthers have struggled on offense is a massive understatement. They rank dead last in yards per game, total yards per play, passing yards per game, first downs and points scored. Moore started the first two games of the year and completed just 42.4 percent of his passes for 342 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions. Moore has turned the ball over eight times this season. Clausen wasn't much better. Clausen completed 47.3 percent of his passes for 454 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. He also fumbled seven times, losing two and took nine sacks.

Fantasy Analysis:

You don't want to roster any Carolina QB. While neither guy is very good, Moore has gotten the ball to Steve Smith @89SteveSmith more consistently than Clausen, which is all you need to know about the Panthers' passing game for fantasy. However, it is unclear if Smith will play this week. He is being bothered by an ankle sprain.
