'Pretty good chance' Kevin Kolb starts for Eagles in week 7
Kevin Kolb
has likely earned himself one more start for the Philadelphia Eagles -- for now. Head coach Andy Reid said Monday that there's a "pretty good chance" Kolb will be his starting quarterback when the Eagles face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Michael Vick
's health is improving, but Reid said that he isn't ready to go back into a game.
"Michael is making progress, but if he had to play today he wouldn't be able to play, he'd be able to practice a little bit but he's not full speed yet," Reid said. "If he felt like he does today, it would be a reach. ... There's a pretty good chance Kevin's the guy this week."
Since Vick's injury in the first half of week four's loss to the Redskins, Kolb has completed 66 of 95 passes for 780 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. The Eagles are 2-0 in his last two starts.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Eagles have a bye in week eight and Reid said Vick is the team's starting QB when he is healthy enough to play. While I think that's true, by now you know better than to take Reid's words at face value. Although some blown coverages really helped Kolb's stat line against the Falcons, he was very good. He should put up some more nice numbers in week seven as the Titans are really struggling against the pass. Kolb looked momentarily lost on the field after DeSean Jackson got hurt, but regained his composure later on. I really haven't thought about rankings for the week, but the matchup probably makes Kolb a top-10 QB this week.
