Update: Favre could be game-time decision
What could be the end to a 289-game streak, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre could be a game-time decision on Sunday due to elbow tendinitis. "It's hard to imagine," Vikings offensive coordinator Darell Bevell said, "but he wants to do what's best for the team. We want to do what's best for the team. Could it happen? Yeah, it could happen, but . . . it's hard to see." Favre has said early in the week that his elbow injury is "very painful." He also added that he doesn't want to play just for the sake of his streak. He also feels he can play better and will play better as the season progresses.
Fantasy Analysis:
Favre's poor play is definitely at the center of the problems the Vikings are having on offense. Randy Moss will certainly help, Adrian Peterson isn't to blame but Favre's inability to get his receivers in the mix is really holding back the offense. Favre has thrown seven interceptions thus far, equaling his INT total from 2009 and his completion percentage is a full 12 percent lower than it was last season. Minnesota took a big jump forward because Favre was able to take care of the football and be very productive. The exact opposite has occurred in 2010 and he's even struggled against the Detroit Lions defense. Fantasy owners who waited to take a quarterback and took Favre in the middle of their draft are hurting and it may be time to cut him loose if things don't change very soon.
