Houston Texans waive RB Steve Slaton
The Houston Texans have waived running back Steve Slaton
. He was a third-round pick in 2008 and led all rookies with 1,282 yards. With the emergence of Arian Foster
, Slaton's role diminished. He had neck surgery after the 2009 season and has been unable to perform at the same high level. The Texans are likely banking on Foster to return to the starting lineup this week.
Fantasy Analysis:
No team can ever have enough running backs so expect somebody to step up and claim him off waivers. Even NFL teams sometimes operate like fantasy squads. Slaton, in part, lost his job because of ball security issues. The Texans opted to add Foster and Ben Tate
in recent years, relegating Slaton to a bench player. One team that could possibly be interested are the Cincinnati Bengals who may be losing RB Cedric Benson
for the next three games.
