Cardinals RB Beanie Wells expected to play this week
Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells said Monday that he will "definitely" play against the New York Giants this Sunday. But he spouted the same positive stuff last week and still missed yesterday's game versus Seattle. This note is not about what Beanie said; it's about what head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday.
Whisenhunt said that Wells was close to playing against the Seahawks, but that the team decided against it as to give his hamstring some extra time to heal and not risk a more long-term injury to their top runner. Whisenhunt told Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website that Wells "should" play this week. However, it will depend on how active he is in practice.
Fantasy Analysis:
Smart move by the Cards. Wells would be welcomed back with wide-open arms to that Cardinals offense. In his spot, Chester Taylor looked dead and Alfonso Smith
looked OK. He'd be the handcuff I want for Wells, which may not be a bad thing to think about given Wells' history of always being nicked. The matchup against the Giants isn't a fantastic one, but if Wells plays, he should be at least a decent flex start.
