Free agent running backs Shaun Alexander and Cedric Benson reportedly met with the Lions on Tuesday, though it is unknown if either player was offered a contract.

The Lions have had little success on the ground through two games, though that is in large part to falling behind by large margins in both contests. Rookie Kevin Smith is still a promising option, though veteran Rudi Johnson has shown little since joining the team prior to week one and that could be why the Lions may be considering adding a veteran.

Considering Alexander looked like a shadow of his former MVP self last year and Benson has not been close to living up to being a top-5 pick, do not rush out to sign either player just yet.
