Bears want to run more often
Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte
has just 26 carries through two games. I'm pretty sure his fantasy owners don't care all that much since Forte has supplemented his low yardage totals on the ground with 207 receiving yards. However, the Bears want to be less dependant on the aerial attack, so says head coach Lovie Smith.
"I know the balance wasn't there," Smith said, referring to the Bears' 12 rush attempts in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Bears threw it 45 times. "All I can say is we'll get it better. We can't win football games with that kind of balance."
Fantasy Analysis:
Not only will this help the Bears balance their offense, it should cut down on the number of hits taken by Jay Cutler, who was absolutely mauled late in that New Orleans game. More carries for Forte is fine, but he's going to get his yards in the end. Right now, he's a RB1 and one of the most valuable players in PPR leagues. More rushing should mean fewer receptions for Forte, but it's not like he's going to entirely disappear out of the passing game.
