Chargers RB Mike Tolbert to see more snaps than RB Ryan Mathews

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune speculates that running back Mike Tolbert @miketolbert35 will continue to play more snaps than second year running back Ryan Mathews @rmathews24. The reason being that Tolbert is the superior pass protector. Mathews was only in for pass protection once out of 12 plays. Tolbert played in nine and backup back Jacob Hester @JacobHester22 played two. Acee also added that Tolbert and Mathews will continue to rotate series on early downs to handle running the ball.

Fantasy Analysis:

Tolbert outplayed Mathews during the Chargers' Week 1 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Mathews has largely been a disappointment for fantasy football as too much was expected too soon from him. Most fantasy owners learned their lesson and opted for Tolbert over Mathews in their drafts. Moving forward, Mathews still possesses some value because the Chargers have a solid offense that can put a lot of points on the board. With that said, Tolbert is the man right now with Mathews firmly at the No. 2 spot on the depth chart.
