Giants WR Hakeem Nicks thinks he will play Monday

Although an MRI earlier this week turned up nothing major, New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks didn't practice Wednesday because of a right knee bruise and hyperextension. His status for Monday night's game versus the St. Louis Rams seems very uncertain -- except for Nicks himself.
"I don't see myself missing Monday night," Nicks told the New York Daily News. "... I knew if it was something that serious I wouldn't be able to be as elusive as I was on it (during Sunday's game versus Washington). I wouldn't have been able to make certain moves. I was still able to run in and out of my cuts, so I knew it wasn't that serious."
Nicks also said that he feels better today than Tuesday and that the swelling in the knee has gone down quite a bit.

Fantasy Analysis:

At this point, I think Nicks will play. He sustained the injury very early in Sunday's game and still caught seven passes for 122 yards. If he can't play, Mario Manningham @ManninghamNYG would become the Giants' No. 1 WR, and Domenik Hixon @domenik_hixon would move into the starting lineup. With how the Giants' offense looked in week one, having Nicks on the field is extremely important. Otherwise, you can downgrade Eli Manning. In my 12-team league, I'm starting Rex Grossman over him this week, regardless of whether Nicks is active or not.
