Brady expected to have knee surgery following MCL, ACL tear
Tom Brady will face a 6-9 months recovery period following knee surgery, which is expected to take place next month. NFL sources said Brady, who will miss the remainder of the season, had torn his ACL and MCL knee ligaments. Brady should be ready for the start of the '09 training camp, but it is Matt Cassel's show now. Expectations are low for Cassel, who has not started a game since high school, but with the play makers and coaching staff around him, he could not be in a better spot. The Patriots have stayed away from the veteran retreads and re-signed Matt Gutierrez to the practice squad, where for now he will backup rookie Kevin O'Connell.
