Colts waive DT Johnson following drug arrest

From The Indianapolis Star
Ed Johnson's latest off-the-field problem is one the Indianapolis Colts won't tolerate.
The team will waive their starting defensive tackle today as a result of his arrest early Wednesday morning in Hamilton County for possession of marijuana.

The Colts promised swift disciplinary action once they had completed their fact-finding mission, and delivered. They are jettisoning a player who had started 18 games, including one in the postseason, after being signed as an undrafted rookie in May 2007.

"We consider every violation of a team rule or NFL policy on an individual case-by-case basis,'' Colts president Bill Polian said in a statement released by the team. "If club discipline is appropriate, we consider the past record of the individual involved and the extent to which team rules were violated when imposing penalties.''

Fantasy Impact - Johnson, who did not play in the season opener, was a solid run defender last season. His absence was notable Sunday night as Matt Forte had a field day running up the middle and the Vikings' Adrian Peterson @AdrianPeterson will try and match that effort this week.
