Bears RB Matt Forte will be used in short yardage situations in Week 1
Since Chicago Bears running back Marion Barber
will not play on Sunday, Matt Forte
will be given a chance to convert short yardage situations. This obviously will also include goal-line plays as well. This is certainly good news for Forte owners. If Forte does not succeed in these situations, the duty falls back onto Kahlil Bell
. Forte only had six rushing touchdowns in 2010 so any goal-line work could help him to improve those numbers.
Fantasy Analysis:
Expect Barber to return to his role very quickly even if Forte gets the job done well. Part of the reason many teams opt to use a different back in short yardage and goal-line work is to give the team's main rusher a break from the punishment. It takes a lot out of guys to have three consecutive plays go to him and have him get knocked around each time. The Bears offense runs through Forte so expect them to continue to protect their investment.
