Patriots RB Kevin Faulk is on PUP list
Not only did the New England Patriots cut Sammy Morris on Saturday, they also put Kevin Faulk
on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list. The move was generally expected as Faulk still wasn't healthy after tearing an ACL in week two last season against the Jets. Faulk won't be able to play until week eight at Pittsburgh. The Patriots will carry on with BenJarvus Green-Ellis
, Danny Woodhead
, Stevan Ridley
and Shane Vereen
in the backfield.
Fantasy Analysis:
Even Faulk knew this move was inevitable. A favorite of both Patriots fans and head coach Bill Belichick, Faulk has been more valuable on the field for his versatility than in fantasy. I mean, he's been used in 12- and 14-team leagues by those in a real bye-week pinch in recent years since he gets about 5-7 touches per week. But you can basically write him off at 35 years old and trying to come back from an ACL injury.
Green-Ellis remains a solid touchdown back, but I think Woodhead will prove to be more valuable this season. I seriously doubt that BJG-E will run for 1,000 yards again.
