Patriots release Sammy Morris, Brandon Tate

It is now after 6 p.m. on the East Coast, and all NFL teams must trimmed their roster down to 53 players. The New England Patriots reached that goal by cutting a couple of noticeable names Saturday: running back Sammy Morris and wide receiver Brandon Tate.
Morris had played the past four seasons with the Patriots and was getting ready to enter his 12th NFL season. He carried the ball just 93 times over the past two seasons.
Tate is a receiver who can stretch the field, but he caught just 24 passes last season and had been demoted to special teams work this year.

Fantasy Analysis:

Tate was the popular pickup when the Patriots got rid of Randy Moss last year. He does have deep-threat skills, but he's not very polished and needs a lot of practice on running routes. However, he's only 23 years old and will probably sign somewhere else. Morris is 34 and has probably played his last down in the league. His best season came in 2008 with the Pats when he scored seven touchdowns and gained 888 yards from scrimmage.
