Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki suffers torn ACL
Official word from the Kansas City Chiefs has yet to be released, but there is a report out from Jude Wilbers from WREX in Illinois stating tight end Tony Moeaki
has suffered a torn ACL. Moeaki was injured in the Chiefs' preseason finale where many starters played significant snaps. He enjoyed a solid rookie year in 2010 with 47 receptions, 556 yards and three scores. The Chiefs were planning on expanding his role in the offense, but that opportunity is in jeopardy if the injury turns out to be real.
Fantasy Analysis:
Moeaki is among the many tight ends who looked to have sleeper potential this season. He would have made a nice selection as a TE2 on your fantasy roster. Although the Chiefs have a run-first offense, at 6-3 and 252 pounds, Moeaki is a big, dynamic target. If he is in fact out for the year, it's a big blow to Kansas City's offense. The Chiefs backup tight end is Leonard Pope, a sixth year player who began his career with the Arizona Cardinals. Pope is better known for his blocking rather than his receiving skills, making him not much of a fantasy option.
