49ers WR Michael Crabtree had surgery before training camp

The Sacremento Bee is reporting San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree @KingCrab15 underwent surgery on his left foot before the start of training camp. This is the same foot that sidelined Crabtree in 2009 because of a stress fracture. This injury could force the former Texas Tech star to miss the opening week of the season since the 49ers are unlikely to force him back into the lineup if he's not ready.

Fantasy Analysis:

Look forward to another shaky start to the year for Crabtree. All the high expectations have been unmet in his brief career. The 49ers thought they landed a steal when they selected him with the No. 10 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. It's not all on him, though, as San Francisco has failed to establish a decent offensive attack with question marks at quarterback and offensive coordinator. This isn't a good start for Crabtree in a new regime led by new head Jim Harbaugh. Crabtree is worth nothing more than a late-round flier if you can afford to keep him on the bench until he breaks out.
