Patriots WR Wes Welker fine after leaving with neck injury
Neck injuries aren't something to take lightly, but it sounds like New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker
has avoided anything serious. Welker injured his neck during Saturday's preseason game against the Detroit Lions when he tried to make a tackle on an interception thrown by Tom Brady late in the first half. When asked about his status after the game, Welker told reporters that he's OK.
Fantasy Analysis:
Welker also wasn't wearing any sort of neck support after the game, so you should take him at his word. According to FFToolbox's average draft position chart, Welker is the 15th WR off the board, going around pick No. 42 on average. I've got no problem with that. If Welker stays healthy, he's basically a lock for 1,000 yards and a handful of touchdowns -- I'm willing to overlook a somewhat disappointing 2010 season. In PPR leagues, he obviously vaults up in drafts.
