Progress? RB Chris Johnson will meet with Titans on Wednesday
Negotiations between running back Chris Johnson
and the Tennessee Titans have been ... well, there haven't been any negotiations to speak of really. But Wednesday could change that. Johnson said via Twitter that he will be flying with his agent, Joel Segal, to Nashville tonight and will talk with Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt on Wednesday. Johnson wants to be one of the richest players in the NFL, regardless of position; the Titans want to give him top money among just running backs.
Johnson wrote rather ominously that things could "get better or wors[e]."
Fantasy Analysis:
I wouldn't expect a deal to be reached tomorrow, but this does provide some hope that Johnson will be on the field prior to the start of the regular season. We'll update you with how the meeting went as soon as news breaks.
We are more than two weeks away from the regular season. I know time is starting to run thin, but I am still not going to drop Johnson outside of my top five in drafts. I'll admit that he's probably fourth among the Big Four at RB -- Peterson, Foster, Charles and Johnson in some order -- but that's as far as I'll go right now. If this holdout continues for another 7-10 days, then I'll really start stressing.
