Patriots WR Wes Welker says he is faster and feels great
Now well over a year removed from his ACL tear injury and subsequent surgery, New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker
says he's feeling great and looking forward to the upcoming season. "I feel great," Welker said. "I feel like I've gained a step from two years ago. This is the best I've felt in a long time, and I just want to continue to play well and continue to get better and do the things that help the team win."
Fantasy Analysis:
Fantasy owners had a tough decision when selecting Welker in last year's fantasy drafts, but were rewarded with a very solid 86 receptions, 848 yards and seven scores. Welker is 30 years old so there should still be something left in the tank. If he can play a full season, another big year shouldn't be a problem. From 2007 to 2009, only he and Brandon Marshall had three consecutive seasons with 100-plus receptions. He even caught 123 balls in 2009, despite missing two games.
