Jets RB Shonn Greene overshadows RB LaDainian Tomlinson
New York Jets running back Shonn Greene participated in 13 of 15 first quarter plays in the Jets' preseason opener. RB LaDainian Tomlinson was on the field for the remaining two plays, both of which were third downs. Jets head coach Rex Ryan had said during the offseason that Greene would see an expanded role in the offense, while limiting to Tomlinson to third downs.
Fantasy Analysis:
We still have a few weeks until the regular season begins, but this is a great sign for Greene and his fantasy owners. Greene underwhelmed last season when compared to the high expectations that came with him after an impressive 2009 playoffs. Greene projects to have at least 275 touches and could easily eclipse 300. He won't break off a ton of huge run plays but he'll eat up yards and scores this year. Fantasy owners should consider him a good upside value in their drafts.
