Seahawks' Tarvaris Jackson not subject to QB competition ... yet
A couple of weeks ago, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll declared that Tarvaris Jackson
is his starting quarterback, no questions asked.
After one preseason game, questions are starting to be asked. Jackson was clearly outplayed by Charlie Whitehurst in Thursday's game aganist the Chargers. That's heightened the competition in Seattle, something that Carroll said has come sooner than he expected. But it's not an open competiion. When asked if Jackson's starting job is in jeopardy, Carroll said, "Not yet. I am sticking to where I said we were."
Fantasy Analysis:
Of course, while Jackson faced some of San Diego's best defenders, Whitehurst threw against second- and third-team players. It's near pointless to take anything of substance from performances in the first preseason game.
If Jackson continues to struggle, Whitehurst could get a fair shot at the starting job, but let's let this preseason develop a little first. Regardless, you should not want either of these QBs on your fantasy roster.
