Cowboys won't limit RB Felix Jones' touches
Felix Jones
is the Dallas Cowboys' clear-cut starter at running back. He's trying to become more of a complete back and preparing himself for the bulk of the carries coming out of the team's backfield this season.
But how much is too much? Jones is not an especially big guy. He missed 12 games due to injuries in his first two seasons and touched the ball at least 20 times in a game on just three occasions last season. However, head coach Jason Garrett isn't keen on setting a limit for Jones; he'll get the workload he deserves.
"What we don't do is we don't say he's a 14-touch guy," Garrett said. "We don't decide that the second week of August and say, 'If he gets more than 14, 16, whatever the number is, it will be bad for him.'"
Fantasy Analysis:
The likes of Tashard Choice
, DeMarco Murray
and Lonyae Miller
are the top choices to back up Jones. But this is his show and after playing in 16 games last year, he'll get every opportunity to show what he can do. Jones is not going to get 20 carries every week; he's just not that kind of RB. But the touches -- both rushing and receiving -- should be plentiful. I think Jones is a low-end RB2 with tremendous upside. But he's got to find a way to score more touchdowns. He has just eight to his credit through his first three seasons.
