WR Eddie Royal listed as starter in Denver

Denver Broncos wide receiver Eddie Royal @EddieRoyalWR is listed as the team's starting "Z" receiver. Royal is typically thought of as a "Y" receiver, lining up in the slot. A "Z' receiver or flanker is often the team's featured receiver, but in Denver's new run-first offense, that remains to be seen. Second year receiver Eric Decker @EricDecker87 is behind Royal on the depth chart. Although Royal is the current starter, Decker is competing for a larger role. The ensuing position battle should drag on far into preseason.

Fantasy Analysis:

Royal exploded onto the scene in his rookie year but that was three years and two head coaches ago. Royal put up 91 receptions, 980 yards and five TDs in 2008. He has barely matched those numbers in the following two years combined. With Decker nipping at his heels, the Broncos' receiver situation remains uneasy. Given the uncertainty surrounding this offense, it's hard to know what to expect. If you can get Royal on the cheap, he's a solid option only in PPR leagues. Without solid playing time, he's not worth a roster spot.
