Jets cut WR Jerricho Cotchery

Braylon Edwards was able to latch on with a team Thursday. Now it's Jerricho Cotchery @cotcheryfoundat's turn. Cotchery became a former New York Jet on Thursday when he was cut. The move was expected, even by Cotchery, who said earlier this week that it was "time to move on" from the Jets. Cotchery caught 41 passes for 433 yards and two touchdowns last season. Those numbers represented a major slide from a player who had gained at least 800 receiving yards in each of the previous four seasons. The Jets saved $2 million under the cap and $1.8 million worth of salary by making the move.

Fantasy Analysis:

Derrick Mason, who is town taking a physical for the Jets, is expected to be Cotchery's de facto replacement. But there's no news saying that it's a done deal, so we will wait to talk about that. The popular rumor surrounding Cotchery is that he will end up with the San Diego Chargers. He and Philip Rivers are good friends going back to their days at North Carolina State. And the Chargers have a need at wideout.
