Chargers' Antonio Gates says plantar fasciitis may never go away
Now, you might be thinking to yourself: Didn't I already read about this a couple of days ago?
Well, no. A couple of days ago, San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates
said he felt about 85 percent recovered from his plantar fasciitis. It seemed as if he was slowly climbing toward full health, but he would get there in time.
Yesterday, Gates insinuated that he may never be right. The plantar fasciitis that dogged him last season may never go away.
"Going forward, the main thing is trying to control it," Gates told the San Diego Union-Tribune. "Plantar fasciitis is one of those things. It's not like an injury. You just hope and pray it goes away. The recovery part is the (unknown). I don't know if that will ever go away."
Fantasy Analysis:
In my mind, Gates is still the No. 1 fantasy tight end, no debate necessary. But it looks like his feet will be an issue throughout the 2011 season. That means a lot of missed practices, appearances on the injury report and a handful of game-time decision designations. If you can deal with that and all of the stress that comes along with owning Gates through all his aches and pains, more power to you. But there is a definite risk to drafting him.
