Redskins' Donovan McNabb out to prove doubters wrong again
Donovan McNabb
was introduced to the NFL with a chorus of boos. He took those and turned them into motivation. It worked out pretty well for him in Philadelphia.
McNabb came to Washington with another chip on his shoulder after being dealt away by the Eagles. That didn't work out as well as McNabb had a year to forget with the Redskins in 2010.
With his Washington career now all but over, McNabb is motivated once again by those who believe he's not going to drastically improve from last season. In other words, he's motivated by everyone.
"2011 is different than 2010," McNabb said on an online sports talk show. "For those who wanna sit back and dwell on what happened last year, so be it. But 2011's gonna be a special season. A season in which I feel that I've prepared myself well -- not just conditioning and strengthwise, but most importantly getting back to the fundamentals. And I look to display that in the 2011 season. And for those who feel like it can't be possible: I'll prove you wrong."
Fantasy Analysis:
Last season, McNabb, 34, threw a career-high in interceptions and posted his lowest quarterback rating since his rookie year. Granted, the talent level around him wasn't nearly as high as most of the teams he worked with in Philly, but he's clearly not as good as he used to be. Talk like this is cheap. What I think of him in fantasy will largely depend on what team he plays with next -- and if he's even its starter.
