Falcons' Julio Jones not 100 percent yet, 8 weeks after foot surgery

You remember the pretty cool story of Julio Jones @juliojones_11 at the NFL combine, right? He ran a 4.34-second 40-yard dash. He registered a 135-inch broad jump. And he did it all with a fractured foot. Jones underwent surgery March 5 and was expected to be fully healthy in eight weeks, otherwise known as the end of April. Well, it's May 10 and the sixth overall pick is still not back to full strength. While he has been with his Atlanta Falcons teammates for informal workouts over the past few days, reports state that Jones is unable to run at full speed on that repaired wheel. Quarterback Matt Ryan was asked about Jones' status Tuesday and didn't have much for reporters. "Julio can't run quite yet," Ryan told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I don't want to talk about the injuries. We'll kind of keep that same policy. He had some work done during the offseason. But he'll be here."

Fantasy Analysis:

This is what kind of story counts as "news" during a lockout -- slight panic in May about a player who isn't quite healthy when the doctors said he would be. I have no qualms about Jones right now; he'll be just fine by the time the regular season gets here. I was able to select Jones in the 10th round of a May 3 experts mock draft you can find here at FFToolbox. I expect his NFL impact to be immediate and substantial, and you should feel very good if you can land him as your first or second bench WR in a 12-team league. I do.
