Broncos expect Demaryius Thomas to miss half of next season
Denver Broncos vice president of football operations John Elway said in a recent radio interview that the team doesn't expect wide receiver Demaryius Thomas
to return to play until "maybe halfway through the season." Thomas is on the mend after rupturing his Achilles' tendon in February. He played in 10 games during his rookie season last year, missing the final five because of a high ankle sprain. Prior to the season, he broke a foot, which caused him to miss the season opener. The first-round pick caught 22 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns.
Fantasy Analysis:
When news of Thomas' injury broke, the early recovery timetable put him out of action for six to eight months. But judging from Elway's words, it looks like it will take a little longer than that. No matter when he comes back, I'm staying far away from Thomas. We didn't get a long look at him on the field, but he was fairly underwhelming in his first season. When you factor in the current double talk surrounding the Broncos' quarterback situation, you have a ton of uncertainty. That doesn't bode well in hopes of a breakout season for a second-year WR, especially one rehabbing after leg surgery and not expected to suit up until October at the earliest.
