Seahawks lock up Ben Obomanu with three-year extension

Other than their shocking playoff win, the Seattle Seahawks have spent the new year signing their wide receivers. Twelve days after agreeing to terms on a three-year extension with No. 1 wideout Mike Williams @BigMikeWill17, the Seahawks gave Ben Obomanu @obo87 his own three-year extension Friday. It would keep him with Seattle through the 2014 campaign. Financial terms weren't immediately disclosed. Obomanu, a seventh-round pick out of the 2006 draft, set career-highs this season with 30 catches for 494 yards and four touchdowns.

Fantasy Analysis:

The base value of Williams' extension was $11.2 million with another $2 million possible through incentives, so the worth of Obomanu's deal will certainly be less than those numbers. It's a nice, cheap move for Seattle, which now has Obomanu, Williams, Golden Tate and Deon Butler all under contract through the 2012 season. The former three are all under contract through 2013. Fantasy-wise, Obomanu didn't have much of an impact this season unless Williams was off the field with an injury. His best game of the year -- five catches, 159 yards and a TD in week 12 -- came in the absence of Williams. Seattle doesn't have a quarterback that can make two wide receivers starter-worthy in fantasy leagues, so unless Williams has to miss more time due to injury, Obomanu is worth nothing more than a deep flyer.
