Jets' Holmes misses practice, Sanchez limited

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes, right offensive tackle Damien Woody and wide receiver Brad Smith @RealBradSmith did not practice on Tuesday. Holmes is expected to play this weekend but Woody (knee) and Smith (groin) have injuries that may keep them out but head coach Rex Ryan is optimistic they both will play. Quarterback Mark Sanchez @Mark_Sanchez has a sore throwing shoulder for the last month. Smith was hurt in the first quarter of Saturday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Smith did eventually return, but cornerback Antonio Cromartie @ACromartie did fill-in for him at times. Sanchez was only given time off in practice to rest and will play this weekend.

Fantasy Analysis:

The Jets' power running game and tough defense keeps them close in most games but New York did get routed by New England once during the regular season in a memorable 45-3 loss on Monday Night Football. The key for the Jets is to get an early lead so they can play their style. If they can limit the big play, then anything is possible, but it should be of note that no team in NFL history that lost by 37 points or more during the regular season was able to then beat that same team in the playoffs. New York, despite its reputation for having a great defense, is not a great pass-rushing team. Their defensive line must attack Patriots quarterback Tom Brady without relying on blitzing since that only opens up the field for New England's passing attack.
