Virginia Tech's Ryan Williams headed to NFL

Virginia Tech lost its second running back to the NFL as Ryan Williams has decided to forgo his final two years of college eligibility. In his 2009, his freshman year, Williams rushed for 1,655 yards and had 22 total TDs. After a hamstring injury this season, Williams was limited to only 477 yards but did manage 10 total TDs. He released a statement through the University: "There is no other place I'd rather play and there are no other fans I'd rather have than Virginia Tech fans," Williams said. "They are the most loyal fans in the country. They were with me all the way, both when I was up and when I was down, and I thank them for making my time here so special. I hope they won't be mad about my decision, but I hope they know that I'll always be a Hokie."

Fantasy Analysis:

Despite an underwhelming 2010 season, Williams remains one of the top running back prospects in a thin class for the position. In his freshman year, nobody looked as good as Williams, except for Heisman winner Mark Ingram. Most analysts project either Williams or Ingram as the top back in this year's class. Williams is the more explosive, agile player and a lot of teams are going to be very excited when they see his game film. Williams will definitely need to perform well at the combine despite lacking sub-4.4 40-yard dash speed.
