Miami cornerback Brandon Harris declares early

University of Miami cornerback Brandon Harris has declared for the 2011 NFL Draft after deciding to forego his remaining eligibility. Harris received a first or second-round grade from NFL draft evaluators. He has not yet signed an agent. "This decision is about what is best for me and my family at this point in my life," Harris said via press release. "I am confident that I can achieve all my goals at the next level and I am ready to begin that pursuit. I have grown up so much as a football player and as a man at the University of Miami. The relationships that I have built here with the players and coaches will be with me for the rest of my life. In addition to the team and University, I have to give credit to coach [Randy] Shannon and coach [Wesley] McGriff, who were instrumental in my development."

Fantasy Analysis:

In my mock draft here at FFToolbox.com, I have Harris being selected with the 22nd pick in the first round to the Indianapolis Colts. Harris roughly ranks at this time around the No. 4 cornerback in the draft. Along with great coverage skills, Harris is very tough against the run. He isn't afraid of contact and given his athleticism, he could see playing time in the NFL during his rookie season. Harris finishes his career with 129 tackles, three forced fumbles, four interceptions and two sacks.
