Chargers' Malcom Floyd will play in week 17 after all
The Chargers will rest their injured players during Sunday's season finale versus Denver, including Mike Tolbert and Antonio Gates. Wide receiver Malcom Floyd was expected to be a part of that group, but odds are he will actually be playing instead. Floyd, whose most recent hamstring injury has forced him to miss the past two games, participated in practice all week and is listed as probable on the injury report. Floyd said he is pushing himself to be ready for the final game of San Diego's season. "After being down for so long, you really miss playing football," he said to the North County Times on Friday. "This is my last chance to play the game for a long time, and I'm going to do everything I can to get out there." Floyd has missed five games this season due to hamstring injuries.
Fantasy Analysis:
With Floyd, Legedu Naanee and Vincent Jackson
all expected to suit up, this will be the first time Philip Rivers will have his full complement of wide receivers available this season. Jackson is the Chargers wide receiver to trust, but I think Floyd is start-worthy in 12-team leagues if you have someone like DeSean Jackson, Andre Johnson or Hakeem Nicks out. The Broncos haven't allowed a touchdown to a WR since week 11 against San Diego -- including one to Floyd -- but they have given up plenty of yards. Will Rivers slinging it, I think Floyd will get enough opportunities to post big numbers if his hamstring can hold up.
