Giants will probably be without Hakeem Nicks due to broken toe
The New York Giants have already experienced life without Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks this season. They'll probably have to relive it for their must-win game at Washington this week. Nicks will likely miss the game after suffering a broken big toe. On Wednesday, head coach Tom Coughlin openly doubted that Nicks will play Sunday and then said "We're going to have to see how [Nicks] does. He can't play today." Nicks missed two games earlier this season due to compartment syndrome in his right leg. Smith was placed on injured reserve a couple of weeks ago with a knee injury.
Fantasy Analysis:
Mario Manningham
will move back into the No. 1 WR role with Derek Hagan starting alongside him. Eli Manning was without Nicks and Smith when the Giants faced the Redskins in week 13; he didn't throw a touchdown and ended with just four fantasy points. Part of that is because the Redskins offered absolutely no resistance to the Giants' running game. The Redskins used to be a great matchup for wide receivers, but they have allowed just two touchdowns to WRs in their past six games. The Giants are reeling after two embarrassing losses and I could see them packing it in this week. They still have a shot to make the playoffs, but they are not beneath laying an egg when the stakes are high. They did it last year against the Panthers at home. To me, Manningham is just a WR3 and unless you've got Michael Vick as your starting quarterback and need a replacement, I would do whatever you can to stay away from Manning.
