Cowboys' Jon Kitna injures hip during Christmas loss
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Jon Kitna injured his hip during Saturday night's loss to Arizona and didn't play in the second half. Kitna left for one play during the second quarter after two Cardinals hit him from his left side. Stephen McGee
replaced him, then Kitna re-entered and threw a short touchdown pass to Jason Witten
. However, Kitna went to the locker room after the scoring drive. He returned to the sideline shortly thereafter and tried to throw, but was noticeably wincing. He threw on the side some more at the start of the second half, but the hip was too much of a bother. He completed 12 of 20 passes for 115 yards in his limited action. He threw two pick-six interceptions along with that touchdown.
Fantasy Analysis:
It's a good thing Kitna came back to finish that one drive, because that score saved his fantasy owners from complete disaster in a rather good matchup. Neither of the INTs were really his fault; Miles Austin
slipped and then Roy Williams saw a pass squirm right through his hands. Kitna has performed rather well since week 10 and has become a very solid QB2 in fantasy thanks to his many outlets. We'll track his progress and see if he can play next Sunday at Philadelphia. If he can't, I would presume Stephen McGee would get the start. The Cowboys would also need to add a QB to their roster. McGee missed a lot of open receivers in the second half and wanted to run than throw on too many downs. But an amazing touchdown late -- amazing for the fact that Austin actually caught it -- nearly snatched this game from the jaws of defeat for Dallas.
