Packers' Rodgers cleared to play
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers
passed his concussion tests and has been cleared to play according to team doctors. Rodgers did not play in Week 15 against the New England Patriots. Backup quarterback Matt Flynn placed in his absence in what turned out to be a more competitive game than most expected. Rodgers suffered his concussion on Dec. 12 against Detroit. Green Bay is currently fighting for a wild-card spot in the playoffs now that the Chicago Bears have clinched the NFC North. The Packers have now lost two straight games and are in a must-win situation against the New York Giants at home on Sunday.
Fantasy Analysis:
Green Bay has been beset with injuries all season. At full strength, this could've been a very different season for them. In any case, this game against the Giants is huge with all sorts of playoff implications. Having Rodgers play can only help matters. Four teams are competing for two wild-card spots: New Orleans (10-4), New York (9-5), Green Bay (8-6) and Tampa Bay (8-6). So a win would go a long way. The Giants have an above average pass defense it's spear-headed by their great pass rush. If they're able to get to Rodgers consistently, it's going to be a tough game for him. Rodgers belongs in your starting lineups but keep in mind this is basically a playoff game for both teams.
