Vikings' Brett Favre may still play tonight
At some point, you have to wonder if strange news just helplessly follows Brett Favre. The latest storyline in the soap opera that is his life came to light Monday. He may play tonight against the Chicago Bears -- after being ruled out by the Vikings on Saturday. Early Monday afternoon, Favre was upgraded from "out" to "questionable" on the official injury report. Favre will be worked out 2 1/2 hours before game time and the Vikings' medical staff will determine his status then. He's nursing a myriad of injuries, the most serious of which is the sprained right shoulder that kept him out of last week's game versus the Giants. Favre didn't take any reps during the practice week and Joe Webb
is expected to get the start. But what seemed to be a foregone conclusion is now up in the air.
Fantasy Analysis:
If Favre plays, I'm sure it will do something to strengthen his legend as one of the toughest players in NFL history. But he's obviously not a good fantasy play against the Bears in the brutal conditions tonight. And while I don't think Webb helps the value of Sidney Rice
or Percy Harvin
, Favre can't be much of an upgrade either. He's so banged up, he'll be extremely limited and I doubt how consistently he will be able to reach his targets. With plenty of snow and sub-zero temperatures in the forecast at TCF Bank Stadium, hopefully you aren't banking on a big game from anyone other than the Bears' defense.
