Redskins suspend Haynesworth for final four games
The Washington Redskins have suspended defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth without pay for the final four games of the season. On Tuesday, in a press release it was stated that Haynesworth was punished for "conduct detrimental to the club." Head coach Mike Shanhan said in a statement that Haynesworth "repeatedly refused to cooperate with our coaching staff in a variety of ways over an extended period of time." He also went on to say that Haynesworth "consistently indicated" to his coaches that he wouldn't play in certain defensive packages and would not follow instructions in practice or during games. Jason La Canfora is reporting that Haynesworth will appeal the suspension and that the Redskins organization will use the suspension to recoup some of the $20 million bonus he received in April.
Fantasy Analysis:
And the saga continues. This news doesn't necessarily have a fantasy impact since Haynesworth was mostly a role player for the Redskins at best but nonetheless, this situation has finally been put to bed. After a few days of answering questions about it, the tension that Haynesworth created with the team will finally be gone. For the players who've been giving everything they've got into this season, this is likely a welcomed change. Haynesworth should've been able to put the differences aside and done what's best for the team. Unfortunately, it's a little too late for that. Moving forward, Haynesworth is still a good player when he chooses to be and was absolutely dominant with Tennessee before coming to Washington.
