Report: Seahawks' Mike Williams 'will miss a game or more'
On Monday, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll tried to keep the injury situation regarding Mike Williams
positive, but reports have the wideout missing at least one game because of his sprained left ankle. Williams, who missed last week's game because of an injury to the same foot, suffered the new injury during the first quarter of Sunday's win against Carolina. NFL.com's Jason La Canfora wrote on his Twitter account Monday that the team doesn't expect him to play this week at San Francisco and Williams "will miss a game or more. Situation is 'not good' says team source. Not an IR issue, but may be out few weeks."
Yet, Carroll said Williams still has a chance to play in week 14.
"It was not a real bad sprain," Carroll said. "It just couldn't kind of tell what happened with the sprain and the foot problem that he has. He couldn't get up on it and get running, but the doctors think by Thursday or Friday we'll know a lot more and have a chance to see where he could go."
Fantasy Analysis:
Well, that basically tells us Williams won't be practicing until Thursday at the earliest. He didn't catch a pass yesterday and it doesn't look like he'll be of much use to you during the fantasy playoffs. Ben Obomanu
is the obvious upgrade if Williams is out, albeit only as a WR3. Obomanu suffered a deep hand laceration during the first half yesterday and didn't return. But he said he expects to play versus the 49ers. He caught two passes for 40 yards in his limited action. Elsewhere, I'm not paying much attention to Dean Butler, Brandon Stokley or the Seahawks' leading receiver from week 13, tight end Cameron Morrah.
