Cowboys' Jason Witten has high ankle sprain
Dez Bryant wasn't the only Cowboys receiver to suffer an ankle injury Sunday. Jason Witten
's ailment isn't nearly as severe as the rookie's season-ending fracture, but he does have a high left ankle sprain. Witten told reporters after the game that he came down with the sprain during the fourth quarter, but he was able to return and catch a touchdown pass later on. Witten said he will be "OK." Witten has missed just one game in his career; that was back in his 2003, his rookie season.
Fantasy Analysis:
Witten isn't having one of his best seasons. He's been rather inconsistent during Jason Garrett's time as head coach, but he's still pretty solid overall. He's on pace for about 80 catches, 5-6 scores and he has an outside shot of recording his third 1,000-yard season in the past four years. The Cowboys host the Eagles on Sunday night and while the Eagles' blitz packages may cause Witten to stay home and block more often than run routes, it's also worth noting Philly has allowed at least seven fantasy points to the tight end position in each of their past eight games. Tight ends have caught seven touchdowns during that span. We'll see if this ankle injury holds him out -- he will probably miss some practice time -- but I expect him to play in week 14 right now.
