Cowboys' Dez Bryant sees his seson end because of fractured ankle
Dez Bryant
has dealt with injuries to his right ankle all season long, but nothing like what he experienced Sunday versus the Colts. The rookie wide receiver fractured his ankle on a kick return in the third quarter of Sunday's overtime win. Multiple sources have told ESPNDallas.com Bryant will undergo season-ending surgery Monday. Bryant was limited during the practice week because of back issues and pain in his left ankle. But he sprained his right ankle early in training camp and then aggravated the injury in October. Now, that ankle will end his season. Bryant finishes the year with 45 catches for 561 yards and eight touchdowns, of which two came on punt returns. His catch total is second-best in Cowboys history for a rookie wideout. "He certainly made great strides in his rookie year," interim head coach Jason Garrett said of Bryant after the game. "... He'll learn from these experiences and hopefully he'll continue to learn this year when he's out."
Fantasy Analysis:
Bryant didn't do much of anything in his final two weeks, but it's obvious that he has supreme talent and I think many people will predict that he'll become the Cowboys' No. 1 passing target next year. With Tony Romo back in the fold, Bryant is a top-10 fantasy receiver to start 2011. As far as the rest of this season goes, upgrade Miles Austin
and Roy Williams. They should see more targets with Bryant out.
