Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger aggravates foot fracture
To read that Ben Roethlisberger has a broken right foot will certainly cause some gasps from his fantasy owners. But the Pittsburgh Steelers stressed Thursday that the break is not new; According to the Washington Post, team spokesman Dave Lockett said Roethlisberger's injury is actually an aggravation of an old injury where there is scar tissue. The area of debate is Roethlisberger's fifth metatarsal -- the long bone on the outside of the foot that connects to the pinkie toe. The team previously stated Roethlisberger sprained his foot in week 12. Then the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette broke the news on the break Thursday. Roethlisberger has worn a protective boot all week in practice and will wear a special protective shoe during Sunday night's game at Baltimore. But Roethlisberger and the Steelers expect him to start.
Fantasy Analysis:
Whether he'll be limited during the game is another story. You can bet the Ravens will do whatever they can to force Big Ben out of the pocket and get him running on that sensitive area. The Ravens confused Josh Freeman last week and the stats from their pass defense have improved lately, but put it in perspective. Against the Bucs, Panthers and Dolphins, the Ravens allowed just two passing touchdowns. But other (read: better) QBs such as Matt Ryan have feasted on the Ravens' back four. As is, I think Big Ben is a top-12 fantasy QB for week 13, but just barely.
