Chargers' Gates, Tolbert, Floyd and Jackson all miss practice
San Diego Chargers have a slew of injuries. Running back Mike Tolbert
(hand), wide receivers Malcom Floyd (hamstring) and Vincent Jackson
(calf), and tight end Antonio Gates
(toe/foot) all missed practice on Wednesday. The NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported that Gates and Floyd should play in Week 13 against the Oakland Raiders. Gates and Floyd both played last week after only practicing late in the week. Also, with Tolbert injured and rookie back Ryan Mathews
playing this week, head coach Norv Turner said, "If Tolbert is healthy and going, he's going to get the ball. But Ryan has got to be able to go in too." Tolbert said he is "feeling good" and is "going to play."
Fantasy Analysis:
The Chargers are fortunate to still be in the thick of a playoff race in the AFC West. The wide receiver crew has been more of a rotation, as one man gets hurt, another steps in to play. Mathews has been nowhere close to his preseason expectations, but Tolbert has played well. As for Floyd, he's good when healthy despite a poor game last week. And Gates is still Gates, the hands-down best tight end in the NFL. In any case, if any of these guys play, there are a good to great fantasy option, even Mathews. The Chargers have one of the most dynamic offense in the NFL when it's banging on all cylinders. Have confidence in these guys, especially as long as quarterback Phillip Rivers is under center.
