Lions' Shaun Hill could miss the rest of the season

Drew Stanton @drewstanton: Detroit Lions starting quarterback. That appears to be the truth after Shaun Hill broke his right index finger during Thursday's loss to the Patriots. A source close to the situation told the Detroit Free Press on Tuesday that Hill will likely miss the rest of the season. Hill will not need surgery, but the source said the Lions could decide to place him on injured reserve soon. Hill played all of the second half with the break, but spent Tuesday's practice on the sidelines with the digit wrapped up. With Matthew Stafford still recovering from his most recent shoulder injury, Stanton appears to be in charge of the Lions' offense for the time being. Rookie Zac Robinson is the only other quarterback on the roster, though the Lions worked out former Lions QBs J.T. O'Sullivan and Josh McCown on Monday, according to foxsports.com.

Fantasy Analysis:

Stanton has been largely awful since being drafted in 2007. His yards-per-attempt average is less than six, and his touchdown-to-turnover ratio is 2:9. Even worse for fantasy owners is that he hasn't shown the ability to get the ball to Calvin Johnson. The two hooked up for an 87-yard touchdown earlier this season, but that came because of badly blown coverage on the part of the New York Giants. Megatron still belongs in your lineup because of his talent and propensity for touchdowns, but I think Stanton will cause his catches and yards to go down. But don't expect the Lions to change their offense. Since they still don't have much of a running game, Stanton will probably launch 40 passes a week. I think Maurice Morris gets a slight upgrade, but so do the opposing defenses against Stanton, starting with the Bears this week. There should be interceptions aplenty.
