Redskins' Clinton Portis gets clean MRI, hopes to play in week 12

Clinton Portis @TheRealC_Portis' re-aggravation of his groin injury may not be severe enough to hold him out of Sunday's game versus Minnesota. On Monday, Portis underwent an MRI, which came back with good news as he's only dealing with swelling. "Hopefully, the swelling goes down," Portis said during a radio interview. "The MRI didn't reveal anything new, so that was a great thing. That was great news. Right now, dealing with swelling, and hopefully that go down." Portis said he could play in week 12 if the swelling subsides. The Redskins would certainly like to have his services considering Ryan Torain is still nursing a hamstring injury and Chad Simpson was put on injured reserve with a broken foot.

Fantasy Analysis:

Portis admitted after Sunday's game at Tennessee that he played with the groin at less than 100 percent. There were whispers that the re-aggravation could cost him the remainder of the season. Instead, it may not cost him a game. But that doesn't mean you need to play him. We've already seen Portis' risk of re-injury is high. Keiland Williams @kwill35 is the guy I like in this backfield if for no other reason than he's relatively healthy. Actually, that is the only reason I like Williams. James Davis has been promoted from the practice squad and could steal some touches, but do what you can to avoid the Redskins' RBs.
